Volunteer Stars Awards

volunteer starsThe Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards is an initiative designed to recognize people in our communities who volunteer their time to make a difference.  It is a simple concept with far reaching results.  Volunteers are pivotal for so many non-profits, churches and activities and Wilson County is blessed with an abundance of them.  After all, the Wilson County Fair is put on with hundreds of them.  The cities and counties nominate one adult and one youth volunteer to be recognized as the Volunteer Star for that area at a banquet put on in Nashville by the Governor’s office.  Nominees are judged based on the community’s needs of the volunteer service performed, initiative taken to perform the service, creativity used to solve a community problem and impact of the volunteer service on the community.

The winners have been named and are:
Sherry's Run for the adults and Jessica Fults for the youth.

Our congratulations to not only the winners, but the nominees.  Volunteers are the backbone of non-profits, churches, Chambers, and programs like the Southern STARRS.  We are proud of all the volunteers in Wilson County.
